A member of the Noctuinae family, the Setaceous Hebrew Character is quickly recognised by the pale pyramid-shaped mark on its forewing. It is the black mark surrounding this that is supposed to represent the Hebrew character, nun. I remain to be convinced.
In the Bailiwick, it will have two flight seasons, one from May to July and then a second generation take to the wing between August and October. Moths numbers later in the year can be bolstered by immigrants flying into the islands.
