The weaving shuttle shape of the oval gives this variable noctuid moth its common name.
This is a common, I would say very common, moth in my garden. When I empty the trap on some days over the summer, there are more of this species than the rest put together. It is a resident moth that may well have two generations during a single season, between April/May through to late October.
GB Status: Least Concern
Food plants: Larvae feed on docks, dandelion and other herbaceous plants
Habitat: recorded in a variety of habitats, including gardens
