Shuttle-shaped Dart

The weaving shuttle shape of the oval gives this variable noctuid moth its common name.

This is a common, I would say very common, moth in my garden. When I empty the trap on some days over the summer, there are more of this species than the rest put together. It is a resident moth that may well have two generations during a single season, between April/May through to late October.
